What is En Papillote?

Before we dive into the recipe, let’s talk a bit about the cooking method. ‘En Papillote’ is a French culinary technique which means ‘in parchment.‘ In this method, the food is placed in a folded parchment paper packet and baked. The packet traps steam during cooking, ensuring that the salmon cooks gently, retaining its moisture and absorbing the flavors of the accompanying ingredients. While parchment paper is traditional, aluminum foil is a great substitute if that’s what you have on hand.
